The word “salvation” means to effect successfully the full deliverance of someone or something from impending danger. Biblically, it means to effect successfully the full deliverance and redemption of fallen man from the impending Hell torment---the penalty of sins. The very word “salvation” carries with it a twofold fact: first, man needs to be saved; second, God is able and willing to save.
Man needs to be saved
Let me speak here of man as a whole. The Bible clearly describe man as a desperately ill being. The Bible says, From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment (Isaiah 1:6). Sin makes man ill in the sight of God. Because of sin man also stands condemned in God’s sight (Romans 3:10-19). Because of sin man is lost and cannot find the way to Heaven on his own effort. Man is lost because of his rejection of Bible truth. The Bible says, The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork (Psalm 19:1). Man openly defies God through his embracing the man-made theory “the evolution”. Man is lost because of disobeying his conscience (Romans 2:14-16). Man is lost because of his relationship to the world (Ephesians 2:2; James 4:4; I John 2:15-17). Man is lost because of his relationship to Satan (Matthew 4:8; John 8:42-44). Man is lost because of his relationship to sin (Romans 5:12). Man is lost because he has no personal relationship with God (John 3:36). The preceding statements clearly declare that man, as a whole, is unholy in the sight of God. If leave in his present condition, he will end up in Hell. Man cannot save himself, no matter what he do!
God is able and willing to save
The Bible clearly declares that God is God of love, mercy and grace. He is reaching to the lost man ever since the world begun. He is God indeed, able and willing to save man. Now, let me here speak to you who is reading this as an individual. Are you saved? Are you sure 100% that you will be with the Lord in Heaven right after you die? If not, I beg you to ponder more on this very important thing. Your eternity depends on your decision today. Think on these:
1. He is able to save.
a) For in that He Himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted (Hebrews 2:18);
b) Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us (Ephesians 3:20);
c) For I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day (2 Timothy 1:12);
d) Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them (Hebrews 7:25);
e) Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy (Jude 24).
2. He is willing to save.
a) For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:3,4);
b)The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).
My friend, now is the day of your salvation ( 2 Corinthians 6:2 ). Call on the Lord Jesus today (Romans 10:13)! Repent of all your sins and receive the salvation of your soul through faith in Jesus. Tomorrow might be too late! Death is sure! Pray right now…I beg you by God’s mercy.
1) God’s salvation is always by blood. The Bible says, And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission (Hebrew 9:22). Furthermore, this blood must be innocent, shed, and applied.
2) God’s salvation is always through a person. The Bible says, For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ (I Thessalonians 5:9).
3) God’s salvation is always by grace. The Bible says, For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).
-This grace is preceded by sinner's faith (Ephesians 2:8).
-This grace is followed by God's peace (Romans 5:1).
