But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep [died], that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope (I Thessalonians 4:13).
Even saved Christians, who know they’re going to Heaven, may feel afraid when they think about dying---because death is an unknown. It leaves us with many unanswered questions: How will I die? What will be on the other side? Will the people I leave behind be OK? What if I die before I have the chance to experience all that I want to experience?
Death is not something that true Christians have to fear, because for them death is not the end of the story. It is the gateway to a place of indescribable joy and beauty. It’s the beginning of a new life in glory. As you spend time in the Bible and with other Christians who have the same hope and assurance you do, you will grow to realize that death is only a door to an eternity far better than your wildest dreams!
Consider this:
Consider this:
- Death ends only earthly life: Ecclesiastes 9:10;Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
- Jesus broke the power of death: II Timothy 1:10; But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
- There is no reincarnation: Hebrews 9:27; And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.
- Don't fear death: I John 4:17; Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
- There will be no more sorrow in Heaven: Revelation 21:3-4; And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
