Peace in the Midst of Troubles

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

John 14:27

"A great many people are trying to make peace, but that has already been done. God has not left it for us to do; all we have to do is to enter into it."

D. L. Moody

What happens next with the ongoing tension between China and US and the rest of the countries who are now actively involved in the territorial conflict at South China Sea?

What about the conflict of Israel and the Palestinian government? The radical Islam movements around the world?

History tells us that man is incapable to promulgate lasting peace. While others are trying to initiate peace, others also wage war. It is all about the underlying mindset inculcated by Satan into the hearts of men which stands in conflict with others. This is not just a physical warfare but also a spiritual warfare that is occurring around us. So we are to expect that troubles are just around the corner await to happen.

What about the continuing Covid-19 pandemic? The rumored coming earthquake that will hit northern Mindanao? The worsening economic situations of many countries? Are you prepared for what will happens next?

But in spite of these, there is still peace! Real peace! And real peace comes only from God. It gives rest in our hearts and souls, it calms our minds and allows us to stand still even in the midst of troubles. We, as Bible-believing Christians, must be persuaded that our God is in control. No matter what will happen our God is still on His throne and is aware of everything that happens, and that include all our goings and doings. He thinks of us and cares for us. He has put peace and eternity in our hearts and so we have peace in Him through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1). Although, sometimes, He allows us to suffer pain and troubles at present, but He designs it in order for us to treasure more the peace that we have in Him and the glory that will be revealed to us in the coming days (Romans 8:18).

Know this, that God is here, He is there; and He is in everywhere. He Knows all about us, He knows all things including the future and the past. He is not controlled by consequences nor limited of time. By Him all things consist and through Him all things exist. And from the moment we trusted in Him, we are kept by His power for all eternity (1Peter 1:5; Colossians 1:17). So why worry? Be still and know that our God is great! (Psalms 46:10) He knows the thoughts and plans that He think toward usthoughts of peace, and not of evil (Jeremiah 29:11).

How we think about God will manifest the way we respond to what is happening around us. The real battle is in the mind. We should have the mind of Christ! For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of sound mind (2Timothy 1:7).
