Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:25.
What does it mean that Jesus is "able also to save them to the uttermost" ? No one else can add to what Jesus did to saved us. Our past, present, and future sins are all forgiven, and Jesus is with the Father as a sign that our sins are forgiven. If you are a Bible believing Christian, remember that Jesus has paid the price for your sins once and for all.
You Can't Earn Salvation
"But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, Who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption." -I Corinthians 1:30.
Paul emphasizes that the way to receive salvation is so simple that any person who wants to can understand it. Skill does not get you into God's kingdom---simple faith does. God planned it this way so no one could boast that his or her achievements helped him or her secure eternal life. Salvation is totally from God through Jesus' death, which allowed us to become perfect in God's eyes. There is nothing we can do to become acceptable to God. We need only accept what Jesus has already done for us.
A true Bible Christian stands in Christ--- he is preserved and being keep by the power of God in Christ Jesus--- and made perfect through the substitutionary sacrifice of Jesus in Calvary (Jude 1; Col. 1:21-23; Heb. 10:14).
A Free Gift
"And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace." -Romans 11:6.
This great truth can be hard to grasp. Do you think it's easier for God to love you when you're good? Do you secretly suspect God chose you because you deserved to be chosen? Do you think some people's behavior is so bad that God couldn't possibly save them? If you think this way, you don't entirely understand the Good News---salvation is a free gift (Rom. 6:23). It cannot be earned, in whole or in part. It can only be accepted with thankfulness and praise.
Ephesians 2:8-9 says: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast."
If you're not sure that you will go to Heaven after you die...you're lost and still of your sins. Come to Jesus today (Matt. 11:28-30)! Claim your salvation (John 1:12)! Be wash by His blood (Eph. 1:7)! Be cloth with His righteousness (Isa. 61:10)! Be a heavenly citizen even while you're still on earth (Phil. 3:20).
